BISMARCK – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a member of the Senate Budget and Senate Banking committees, spoke to Arthel Neville on Fox News today about the latest on the bipartisan infrastructure bill negotiations and Democrats’ $3.5 trillion proposed spending package. Excerpts and a link to the full video are below.

On Infrastructure:

“[Regarding] the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill that’s being negotiated right now – which, by the way, could have a lot of momentum if [Senate Majority Leader] Chuck Schumer weren’t so anxious to put it on the floor before there’s even bill text – there are some good things in that bill. If we’re going to spend money on anything, it ought to be on assets that the American people own after the fact. Assets like roads, bridges, waterways, internet, rail, transit, and all the other things that have – as their primary purpose – the movement of goods and services which continue to grow the economy and pay people to go to work, not to stay home.”

On Democrats’ Spending Proposal:

“Democrats are hell-bent on using the budget reconciliation process, where they could just use a simple majority in the Senate, to jam this … down our throats. I think that could crush what is already a growing economy and the potential of it. The Founders made [passing bills] difficult on purpose. They didn’t want to make it easy for us to pass a bunch of junk.”

“I always look for compromise and common ground where we can find it, but I stand firm when I think anything is going to damage the American public and the American economy.”
