After a year that held so much uncertainty, I am pleased to announce that we are finalizing plans for Vermont’s 24th Annual Women’s Economic Opportunity Conference (WEOC) to be held on October 23, 2021.  With everyone’s health and safety in mind, we will be hosting a virtual event this year and it will be a bit more abbreviated than our usual day-long conference, instead running from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. I hope you will join us.

In keeping with the long WEOC tradition, we will hear from a dynamic keynote speaker and engage in lively discussions on how to manage work and life demands.  But the past year has also brought new challenges that we will face head-on, covering topics that we could not have imagined when we last gathered in 2019.  We will hear from women-owned businesses that not only survived but thrived during the pandemic.  We will explore how routines have been altered by work-from-home flexibility and child care needs, and we will learn how Vermonters were able to access critical federal recovery support that helped to keep businesses afloat.

Events such as this conference require many months of planning and we decided to take these extra precautions back when our state’s re-opening plans were still uncertain.  Marcelle and I are so proud of the work that Vermont has done to recover from the pandemic, and we are grateful to host this important event once again.

For now, please hold open the morning of October 23rd for this conference, and visit my website to learn more about WEOC.  More details on registration and speakers will follow soon.
