Sen. Cramer: North Dakota Universities Receive Federal Funds for Research Efforts, Teacher Shortages

BISMARCK — U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) announced today universities in North Dakota have received the following grants totaling $891,924 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA):

  • $438,862 from NSF to the University of North Dakota for research training,
  • $192,924 from USDA to North Dakota State University (NDSU) for developing fire-retardant coating additives from agricultural byproducts, 
  • $190,140 from USDA to NDSU for developing corrosion mitigation products from agricultural feedstocks, and
  • $69,998 from NSF to NDSU for addressing STEM teacher shortages in rural communities.
