Allentown, Pa. – U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) today announced a $21 million federal grant to fund major improvements along Pennsylvania Route 61.

“Pre-pandemic, an average of 19,200 vehicles traveled on Pennsylvania Route 61 daily,” said Senator Toomey. “Not only does this road play a vital part in sustaining the economic development of Schuylkill County, but it also provides a crucial link between the rural communities that surround it and access to critical medical and educational resources. I was pleased to support this application.”

The Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant funds will be used to reconstruct Pennsylvania Route 61 to provide safe and reliable travel to support the growing commerce in Schuylkill County. Senator Toomey wrote a letter supporting the application in February.
