LOUISVILLE, KY — U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following statement today on the passing of Thomas Marion “T.M.” Weddle Sr. of Liberty, Kentucky:

“I was incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of T.M. Weddle, a lifelong farmer, American patriot, and devoted family man who loved Casey County and left an indelible impact on all who knew him. T.M. was deeply committed to his animals, his community, and, most of all, his family. Elaine and I share our condolences with his wife Betty Lou, his children Tom and Linda, his three grandchildren, and his two great-grandchildren.

“T.M. was a quiet man who listened more than he talked, but nevertheless earned respect through the skill with which he raised his prize-winning livestock. His animals – especially his horses – were his pride and joy. He was a dedicated Casey County farmer his entire life, only leaving to serve the American people in the United States Army.

“T.M. was a joyful man who adored Betty Lou throughout their sixty-eight years of marriage. He will be greatly missed by his fellow farmers, church-members, veterans, and Kentuckians. Elaine and I hold the entire Weddle family in our thoughts and prayers.”
