WASHINGTON––U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) released the following statement reminding Arkansans to support small, local businesses in their communities Saturday, November 27 as part of Small Business Saturday:

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and contribute so much to our towns and cities each and every day. Local retailers, restaurants and other independently-owned businesses employ thousands of Arkansans and help make our economy vibrant and resilient. Small Business Saturday provides the perfect opportunity to support local shops and remind Natural State entrepreneurs and job creators that we value the work they do and the services we have come to rely on.”

Founded by American Express in 2010 and officially cosponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration since 2011, Small Business Saturday has become an important effort to promote small businesses. U.S. consumers who shopped at independent retailers and restaurants on Small Business Saturday last year spent an estimated $19.8 billion, according to the 2020 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey commissioned by American Express.
